Video shows Alex Baldwin’s Range Rover crashing into a tree

A news outlet published dash-cam footage from a garbage truck that it says challenges Alec Baldwin s account of how a commercial truck the size of a whale cut him off and forced him to crash his wife s Range Rover head-on into a tree Monday afternoon Neither Alec Baldwin nor his younger brother Stephen Baldwin who was a voyager in the Range Rover was injured in the crash on a rainy Monday afternoon on Montauk Highway East Hampton In a video shared with his million Instagram followers the -year-old Emmy winner mentioned he was driving along the highway and swerved to avoid hitting the truck Anyway I won t go into the details but to avoid hitting him I hit a tree Baldwin reported I hit a big fat tree and crushed my car and my wife s car I feel bad about that but it s all fine and I m fine and my brother s fine Newsmax published a -minute -second front-facing video taken from the garbage truck s cab Newsmax says it shows the truck exiting a parking lot and appearing to make a legal right turn onto the highway in East Hampton New York before Alec Baldwin s white Range Rover comes into view However the New York Post points out that the video arguably shows the garbage truck roll through a stop before making a turn giving Baldwin little time to slow down on a clearly wet and slippery road In either matter about seconds into the video Baldwin s Range Rover appears to attempt to pass the truck on the right before veering onto the shoulder and striking a large tree head-on The video also shows the Range Rover s crumpled front end while photos captured Baldwin outside his conveyance making a phone call The New York Post disclosed that East Hampton police appear to back Baldwin s account In a report the department s chief Michael Sarlo reported that the Range Rover was identified to have struck a tree on the Eastbound shoulder of the roadway while avoiding the turning action of a Mack commercial truck registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore NY The chief also commented there were no released injuries and summons would not be issued He revealed the contributing factors to the accident were located to be a reaction to an uninvolved bus and the slippery and wet roadway conditions
